Thank you for choosing Thames & Kosmos and for your interest in our Robotics Workshop kit.
Only phones using Android OS and iPads have the capability to communicate with the CB1 core controller via Bluetooth. If you are using a PC, your robot will have to stay connected to your PC via the USB while your program is running.
If you are using the Android or tablet version, you can download it using one of the following links: Apple App Store | Google Play Store.). CB1 connections are not supported with iPhone.
If you wish to use the PC version, click HERE to be routed to a direct link to the program. If you receive a pop-up about an unsecured download, click 'Approve' or 'Proceed' to download the file. Bear in mind that the PC download is secured by AWS, despite this message.
If during a download you receive an Error 502 message, try using another device to download the file.
If you receive an error mid-download using Windows 10, check to see if any files have been downloaded prior to the error. In the case that your files are typed '.crdownload', try changing all relevant files with this filetype to '.exe'.
Once the program is downloaded, get ready to test your connection.
Plug in your CB1 core controller and open up the CB1 Blockly App. Give it a minute to recognize that your robot is connected, (the blue light on the CB1 core controller will remain solid) and try running a program.
If you notice your connection rapidly disconnects, or requires you to consistently reconnect, this is likely due to a defective CB1 core. You can send us a support query HERE to receive a new core, in the case that yours suffers from this error.
If you receive a 'NaN' response when trying to run a program, that refers to "Not a Number" errors. Check your program to ensure every point where a variable exists, a valid number is input, and text is not connected as a variable to any of your numerical inputs.
If you're using an Android device to run CB1 Blockly, and notice your app does not display fully, and appears 'cut-off', try scrolling with your fingers, or relaunching the application in developer mode. Some devices have screens that are too long for the app (depending on OS), which may cause this issue. This does not impact functionality, however, so if something is not working properly, review for other errors.
Your CB1 core cannot store code, which means use of the device requires a constant connection, either in the form of Bluetooth (for Android devices or tablets), or a cable (in the case of a PC).
If you have any additional questions about this or any of our other kits, please do not hesitate in including them in your email to us.
