Thank you for choosing Thames & Kosmos and for your interest in our kits.
We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble opening the battery compartment for your Motor Box. Some of the safety screws can certainly be difficult to remove, but if the screw is not stripped, you may still have luck removing it. For the best chance at removing a difficult screw, ask someone to help you and follow these steps.
Place the motor box on a firm table. One person should hold a precision screwdriver firmly with both hands while the helper spins the motor box (because the motor box is larger than the screwdriver, it will give you better leverage).
For some visual help, please check out the video below.
Also, if the screw was damaged from the initial attempts to remove them, you may be able to remove the stripped screw using a rubber band. Here are some step-by-step instructions (with visuals) to help you:
I hope that resolved the issue. If not, we kindly ask you to provide us with the following details:
- Your mailing address and phone number
- The name of your kit (found on the front of the box or on the cover of the manual)
- The production code from your box (an alphanumeric code located in the white square with the UPC barcode)
- The date of purchase (or when you received it as a gift)
Thank you again for choosing Thames & Kosmos. We hope you and your family will continue to enjoy our products for many years to come.
Kind regards,
The Thames & Kosmos Technical Support Team
