We are sorry to hear your Wind Power 4.0 isn't working as expected. Take some time to read these tips, and figure out what might be the issue.
First, here’s an easy way to check your device is working properly.
NOTE: You must use a rechargeable battery with this product.
Tip 1: Let’s make sure your device is moving in the right direction. Construct the car model found on page 24 of your Wind Power 4.0 kit, and hold it above the ground. When you press the button and set it to ‘OUT’, the motor should run, turning the gears & wheels.
Next, place it onto a flat surface, and see which direction it’s traveling: Going forward means your ‘OUT’ mode is working properly, but going backwards suggests there’s a wiring issue. If your device has a wiring problem, please contact support@thamesandkosmos.com for further assistance.
Tip 2: Sometimes the LED indicator can be dim. Take your Wind Power 4.0 into a dark room. Begin to rotate the blades by gently spinning them with your hands, checking to see if the IN/OUT LED lights up depending on which direction the blades rotate. If you don’t see a light when rotating in either direction, try speeding up the rotation, or moving to a darker room. The device is charging properly if you see a light when the blades are moving counterclockwise, with the nose cone facing away from you.
If you do not see a light, or you only see a light when the blades are moving clockwise, with the nose cone facing away from you, you may have a wiring issue. If your device has a wiring problem, please contact support@thamesandkosmos.com for further assistance.
Tip 3: Using the right battery matters for this product. Carefully open the battery compartment, and remove the battery. Check to make sure your battery is rechargeable.
With a non-rechargeable battery, or an empty compartment, the device can burn out, resulting in damage or total failure. When re-inserting the battery, make sure the positive and negative terminals are correctly connected.
Tip 4: There's a high load of resistance placed on the gears which power the batteries, which means it may take higher windspeed than expected to turn the turbine. Placing it outdoors, where it can catch strong winds, is the best way to ensure your Wind Power 4.0 turns properly and charges its batteries.
