The Next Generation Science Standards are based on 3 dimensions (the science and engineering practices; the core ideas in the science disciplines; and the concepts linking the different domains of science) and 4 domains (Physical Science; Life Science; Earth & Space Science; and Engineering, Technology, & Applications of Science) organized into grade level with specific performance expectations.
